Day 1 – Arrival in Ponta Delgada
Arrive in the charming Azorean capital of Ponta Delgada, where cobbled streets, vibrant markets, and centuries-old churches await. Settle into your waterfront hotel and enjoy a leisurely afternoon exploring the historic center or visiting a local pineapple plantation. In the evening, we’ll gather for bike fittings followed by a festive welcome dinner.

Day 2 – Ponta Delgada to Furnas
Cycle along the coast before climbing the lush Pizões Pass into the volcanic valley of Furnas. Visit Vila Franca do Campo, once the island’s capital, and take in lake views surrounded by fumaroles and vibrant gardens. Settle in for two nights in the spa town of Furnas.

Day 3 – Furnas Hike & Exploration
Enjoy a spectacular hike on the Sanguinho Trail to the Salto do Prego waterfall, passing dense forests and timeless hamlets. If you’re up for more, opt for a coastal hike to Ribeira Quente. In the afternoon, relax at Terra Nostra’s famous gardens and thermal pools.

Day 4 – Furnas to Ribeira Grande

Day 5 – Hike: Caldeiras to Salto do Cabrito

Day 6 – Ribeira Grande to Ponta Delgada

What type of bike is recommended?We recommend Ebike, gravel or touring bikes, to comfortably handle the island’s rolling and at times steep terrain, as the routes include a mix of paved roads and quiet volcanic byways.
How challenging is the cycling?This is a moderate to challenging tour with daily distances between 40 to 65 km (25 to 40 mi) and some sustained climbs. The support van is always nearby, and routes can be adjusted to match your ability.
