101k under a torrid sun

5/17/2009 Hard as nails

Following a trend started by last month's Blue Coast power tour, I decided to bite the bullet and take part in the 101km La Legion mountain bike race in Ronda, Andalucia. Who better to do it with than two Sevillanos - Bobby and David Deffense, the first official riders for our very recently and informally formed CTTC Race Team!

They said it would be "fun". The first 50k matched that description, but it was all uphill from there, on one of the dustiest, toughest tracks I have ever ridden. Was it worth it - absolutely, although my legs don't quite agree just yet.

A visit to the arab baths in Sevilla might be in order before typing out the whole story. In the mean time, you can visit http://lalegion101.es for a little background information. Watch this space!
